Kimono: create the pattern of a Japanese garment
For children aged 4 to 7
In ukiyo-e prints, the kimonos of beautiful women and Kabuki theater actors are highly refined, adorned with repeating printed motifs. We invite children to decorate kimonos in the style of the great Japanese masters, using elegant, colorful motifs. A colorful journey with eye-popping motifs!
Materials required
- the 2 women ou les 2 actors printed on a thick A4 sheet (180 g preferred)
- dry pastels
- celery stalks and a knife
- stamps
Steps
1. Coloring
Use your dry pastels to color the background of your work. Rub with your hands to blend the pastel.
2. Cutting celery into stalks
Ask an adult to cut the celery stalk into slices about 3 cm thick.
3. Kimono decoration
Dip your celery slices in the stamps. Tip: place the motifs next to each other. Don't overlap them.
Choose two different colors for the two kimonos.
Your masterpiece is finished!
