Exhibition

Canaletto

Rome-London-Venice

In 2015, Caumont - Art Centre will be inaugurated with an exhibition which will shed new light on the Venetian master's complete works.

Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto (1697-1768), is recognised as the cornerstone of the vedute artistic genre, the most admired Venetian artistic creation from the 18th century in Europe.

In 2015, Caumont - Art Centre will be inaugurated with an exhibition which will shed new light on the Venetian master's complete works. More than sixty paintings and drawings from both public and private international collections will present the man Canaletto and the different phases of his artistic career. The exhibition will invite you to rediscover the master's artistic development: from his early career as a painter of theatre scenery, his capricci full of musical influences, to the intimate drawings at the end of his career, through views of Venice which became a key feature in the great collections belonging to aristocratic British Whig families.

General curator: Ms Bozena Anna Kowalczyk, specialist in 18th century vedute.
